For this project, we had a quick summary of an article, as well as a phrase to base our works off of from the article.

The ones I chose were "At the Point of No Return", "Easing the Silent Struggle", and "Replacing the Word that Harms". The thumbnails I did for the former were just stronger in general, and the melting idea fit with my desire to go into a more surrealist direction.

These thumbnails are a lot smaller than I make my thumbnails normally. I didn't know what to do with the project, so I just decided to face it head-on by sketching whatever was in my head.

Sketching was fun, but challenging as I have never draw stuff melting before. Also, placing objects in landscape is always trouble for me since the focal point is not as bull's-eye.

I wanted to go for something more on the sciency-side and referencing the prehistory in climate change and climate disasters and make the point that we will eventually become like them- just a memory of the past.

From there, comes the shading. I didn't have as much fun rendering this one since I was more detached to the piece. I liked figuring out the bone structure and how that would react to the ground, though. I eventually turned the ground green so it could give less grand-canyon and more like an icky, radioactive world.

Ta da!
